La Gaite Lyrique, Paris - More than 360 x roof loudspeakers, all EtherSound connected and individually adressable

Situated in the heart of Paris, La Gaite Lyrique began in 1862 as a theater.
Inaugurated in March 2011 in its new format, La Gaite Lyrique is now a creation and resources center dedicated to digital medias and arts, and to modern music creations.
Completly reformed and reinvented, la Gaite Lyrique now offers various creation rooms, concert halls and resources centers.
La Gaite Lyrique 2.0 - Architecture: Manuelle Gautrand
In close collaboration with the audiovisual designer (Labeyrie), the choice has been made to have a completely digitally networked creation tool in all spaces of the building (including halls), and thus providing artists with an unique creation tool: all loudspeakers in all levels of the building are connected and indiviudually adressable, through EtherSound
AuviTran AVP4-ES100 digital EtherSound roof amplifiers (4x10W) have been widely  used to provide these unique features.

Audiovisual design: Labeyrie & associés (www.labeyrie.net)
Integrator: IEC Paris
Products involved for the sonorization of all halls of the creation center:
93 x AuviTran AVP4-ES100 EtherSound connnected amplifiers (4x10W), connected to
360 x roof loudspeakers
In complement, Amadeus active loudspeakers and subwoofers directly connected to the EtherSound (20 x Sub ML12-ES and 4 x PM5-ES)
2 x AV3rd-ES100 for multidiffusion to EtherSound from PC (with Abbleton Live software)
1 x Innovason Eclipse console for routing matrix

Other Innovason consoles and Amadeus loudspeakers are used in the main concert hall

Inaugurated in 2011, it has a gauge of 45 000 spectators (possibility to extend to 65 000).
SGM (Scène du Grand Maghreb) successfully projected and installed the audio system for this new stadium: line array system for both sound reinforcement and emergency in the arena.

Integrator: SGM , Morrocco
Products involved:
Nexo GEOS line array clusters for sound reinforcement, with GEOS 1230 speakers
14 x Nexo NXamp amplifiers (with 2 of them for backup in securitty context), directly connected to EtherSound with NXES104 cards
Yamaha LS9 console and DME24, connected to EtherSound via AuviTran AVY16-ES100 cards
3 x pairs of AuviTran AVRed-ES100/Fo for EtherSound transport through redundant optical fiber optics to deported racks (East, North and South)
4 x AuviTran AVNF49-ES for real time supervision of EtherSound connected devices

Context
Inaugurated in 1998, Stade de France is a major arena, with a jauge of 80 000 spectators
The arena is intensively used for multple activities (football, rugby, athletism, concerts...), with different tribunes configurations depending on the event.
Consortium Stade de France decided in 2010 to renovate completely the audio system, with following objectives in mind:

  • provide excellent audio quality and comfort for all spectators, whatever the stadium configuration
  • provide best possible intelligibility (clarity of speech), and conformity to secutity standards
  • full control and optimization of audio volumes everywhere in the arena
  • permanent audio level measurement in and out the arena, for a better real time adaptation
Stade de France in rugby configuration: three levels of tribunes
New system description

  • Line array system for both sound reinforcement and voice emergency in the arena
  • All devices are connected through EtherSound, allowing real time monitoring of all connected devices, and action in case of failure
  • all equipments parameters can be adressed and changed  in real time from control room (supervision software)
The architecture of the system is described in details through the following diagrams:

Focus on internal rooms sound reinforcement and security

Main user advantages
  • Excellent audio confort AND excellent audio intelligibility, for all spectators, whatever the stadium configuration
  • Full status monitoring and control of all audio equipments, all connected to EtherSound
  • Modern and top quality tools provided to event organizers (EtherSound connected stageboxes, concert quality installation)

Ben-Hur in Sydney (ANZ Stadium): audio transport by EtherSound

Production: Stade de France Live Events
Audio technical management: GL Events Audiovisual

Staff:      F.Viricel (sound technical director GL-Events)

               J.Lyonnet (Sound system designer/engineer)
S.Puteaux (engineer in charge of Wireless transmission)
P.Mourdon (engineer in charge of Ethersound Network)

Products involved: L-Acoustics amplifiers connected to EtherSound via Digigram ES8out , Yamaha stageboxes and consoles, AuviTran AVM500-ES matrixes -Full control through AuviTran ESMonitor software

The stadium-scaled Ben-Hur was performed in the Olympic ANZ Stadium of Sydney on October 22d and 23th 2010: two succesful live shows performed in a stadium of 80 000 seats.

Audio distribution was planned and achived other EherSound network (Ethernet and Optical links): 32 line array clusters were connected and two AuviTran AVM500-ES matrixes allowed a highly robust star architecture.

Main user advantages as explained by Philippe Mourdon
  • system reliability (EtherSound was the unique audio transmission link)
  • routing flexibility allowed by AVM500-ES and ESMonitor
  • redundancy allowed by port A of the AVM500-ES
  • diagnostic tools in ESMonitor
  • AuviTran quality and reactivity of support
